Fires Happen

We sit in fire in the desert. We sit in fire in our own lives. Then, fire happens where we live and it affects everything.  I haven’t lived in a place where fires burn like this, and I can honestly say it’s worrisome for those of us who live here in New Mexico. The smoke can be thick and breathing becomes difficult, as I have experienced. Our homes and safety can be at risk, and we desperately need water. They say the fires are a natural process to burn the old brush and growth, yet as I watched the mountain burn I can’t help but feel it’s presence near and it’s impact.

May the waters come. May all be safe. May we care for our earth, as it cares for us.
